We want to recognize our students for being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, SAFE, and CARING! Our student advisory team sponsored our first school spirit event this year, Mismatch Day. Students were encouraged to wear mismatched clothing. They could wear stripes and spots or animal print with floral print. They could even just wear two different socks. It was game day and members of the Roosevelt football team, cheerleaders, and Coach Link stopped by Greenwood. The student athletes answered questions, read with students, and participated in classroom activities. The Greenwood students were excited to see the players and cheerleaders in uniform! We’re pleased to tell you every Des Moines Public Schools elementary student will now have access to breakfast at no cost to the students or their families. This expansion means almost every school in the district offers at least one no-cost meal option during the day. No more pulling crumpled paper flyers from your student’s backpack! Opportunities in the community will now be available online, instead of jumbled up with homework and artwork. We are excited to meet all our Greenwood families during Back to School Night on Monday, August 21st from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. You may bring your school supplies and meet your new teacher.

Greenwood will be participating in Breakfast in the Classroom this upcoming school year. Students will have the option to grab breakfast on their way to their classroom FREE OF CHARGE to parents.
