I knew I was destined to be an educator from my time playing school as an elementary student in the 80’s and 90’s, forcing my sisters to be my students and taking home all of the extra worksheets my teachers. I started my career in DMPS in 2006 as a 1st grade teacher at Brubaker Elementary School where I taught for seven years, my last four as a 3rd grade teacher. In 2014, I became an Instructional Coach at Garton Elementary. I also worked as a district Instructional Technology Coordinator from 2015-2017, during which time I realized I missed working directly with teachers and students, so I went back to school to study Administration. In 2017, I became the Dean of Students/Associate Principal at Garton Elementary, where I served until my promotion to Principal at Greenwood in 2021. I absolutely love everything about the staff, students, and families of Greenwood and feel so grateful to get to serve the community in my position.
I have a Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State in Education, a Master’s Degree from Viterbo in Education, and a Master’s Degree from Drake University in Educational Administration. I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and our Miniature Australian Shepherd. We enjoy traveling, going to concerts, and spending time outdoors.
